Archippus Sturrock has been appointed public affairs manager for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. He has joined from the Scottish Parliament, where he has worked as a senior parliamentary adviser and speechwriter for the past three years.
His other previous positions include adviser and coordinator for the UNESCO Week of Sound in Edinburgh, and communications officer at the House of Commons.
In his new role, Sturrock is part of a team headed up by Louisa Mahon, chief marketing and communications officer, Glasgow 2026.
“Six months from today, Scotland will once again host the Commonwealth Games, and it is a real privilege to play my part in what will be a significant moment for Scotland and the wider Commonwealth,” he said, in a post on LinkedIn. “My focus is parliamentary engagement across Holyrood and Westminster, helping to support the relationships and exchanges that sit around an event of this scale.”
Sturrock added: “On a personal note, this role has already encouraged me to reconnect with a sport I’d long given up: gymnastics. Last week, I attended classes and even managed my first salto (airborne somersault) in more than two decades!”
He has been tasked with driving “impactful engagement with political, governmental and sector stakeholders across Scotland and the UK,” according to Glasgow 2026. Sturrock will also “play a lead role in building advocacy, shaping narratives and positioning Glasgow 2026 within key national conversations”.
